I really enjoyed this explanation of menu planning. It has simplified it for our family. I was hoping you could either send me and email or put out on your blog what you keep 3 and 6 month supplies of. I know it might be a little different for me since I live in the south. If you could just give an idea that would be great. Thanks so much please keep up the great video’s on youtube and teach me how to can more stuff. You are both so great thanks a bunch. Warm Regards from GA.
I like the comment from the previous person. I too would enjoy reading or hearing what you keep in your pantry for 3 to six months.
Our family is always trying to save as much as possible…but sometimes it gets away on us. We usually have close to a years supply of beef as we get half a cow from our daughters in-laws…plus we raise our own chickens now. We then just purchase our pork products and sausage etc. So having said that we do have three freezers…one for meat…one for all our frozen fruit and one for all the other things. We do have a generator as like you, we were concerned about losing power and losing our food. We also buy bulk butter, cheese and frozen veggies.
After listening to your videos here, dh and I sat down and came up with our favourite 31 meals and are now working on the cost for each meal including veggies, salad, carbs etc…it will be a rought cost but this way we know which is the least expensive on any given month. Dh is putting this into a small spread sheet so I can have it taped to the inside of my spice door along with my shopping list.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to video tape everything for us…I can imagine it’s a lot of work and with your large family and busy life…well, I say again, thank you!
@ Connie:
I’m working on a series on food storage. I hope to have it up soon!
I forgot that I had actually watched the second one…was good to see it again. The comment about your children getting tired of oatmeal…made me smile.
It’s funny because our African children never tire of anything because all they ever ate was rice and a small donut for dinner.
Anyway, tell hubby that he said he was going to do more videos on this subject…LOL. I always learn so much.
Blessings,
Connie
