Last week the nice weather came early.  Temperature climbed up to the low teens!  The day was just to nice to be inside so we headed to the park for a nature walk.

While we were there we found trees that a porcupine had been chewing.   Some deer tracks and one I think is a raccoon track?

Raccoon Track?

Damage to a tree. Another Porcupine perhaps?

Now that we have a break in the cold weather hubby decided to take the older kids for a nature walk!  The -25C windchill’s we’ve had the last few weeks are just to cold for little ones.  Well it’s to cold for ME to! They had a wonderful time looking at the deer and finding different tracks.  Afterward it was time for hot chocolate!

It’s a big change from our fall nature walk you can also see one of our winter walks from last winter.

This is a sulfur spring, it’s a really interesting nature study area.  In the summer because of the sulfur water bugs don’t lay their eggs there.  It also runs year round with out freezing.

Kid’s found some mouse tracks!

We’ve been doing a lot of nature walks lately.  Thought I would share a few pics.

We try to go for a nature walk at least once a week.  I thought I’d share some photos of our last walk.  It wasn’t to hot and we had a wonderful time!

Look closely at the frog.  He has a bug sitting on his nose!  I didn’t notice until I downloaded the photos.  They were hard to get shots since we were up on the board walk.

Our weather has been bitter cold.  So when we had a day near 0C a few weeks ago, dh took the oldest two girls for a nature walk.  They went to our favorite conservation park.  The girls had a lot of fun!  They saw deer, turkeys that are kept there.  They also found wild deer tracks and droppings.  Saw the damage on the trees from porcupines.  They loved getting to see what the sulfur spring looked like in the winter to.
