Supplies

• White or brown paper bag
• Quick dry tacky glue or school glue
• Johnny Appleseed Template File
• Cardstock or construction paper

How To Make A Johnny Appleseed Paper Bag Puppet

Print the Johnny Appleseed template out onto cardstock or construction paper. Cardstock works best if you want the pieces to hold up during play, but regular paper will still work.

Then cut the pieces apart. If your children are old enough to safely cut the pieces apart, then this is a good fine motor activity.

Turn the paper bag so the folded bottom is at the top. This part becomes the puppet’s face. Glue the head onto the folded part of the bag.

Next, glue the hat onto the top of the head.

Then glue the apple onto the hat.

Optionally, kids can use crayons or markers to decorate the front of the bag to make a shirt for their puppet.

Skills Practiced

Kids get great fine motor practice as they cut out the pieces and glue them to the bag.
