Getting The Gardens Planted!

Our weather has been very warm the past week and it looks like it will be for the next few. So we’ve been busy getting the gardens planted.
Over the last few days, we’ve planted the kids’ garden and the cabbages (early, late, and red), garden huckleberries, eggplant, Italian zucchini, and most of the tomatoes.
I still have a few flats of tomatoes in the greenhouse. But they won’t be planted for a few more weeks. Some I just started last week (bonny best, celebrity, and brandywine), others were planted in egg cartons.
They just did not grow as well as the ones in plastic pots. I’ve repotted them into peat pots, and they should catch up soon.
Today I trimmed the grass around the raised beds and weeded them well. Tomorrow I will be planting cucumbers and beans in there. We are hoping to start planting the potatoes as well.
The ground is terribly dry, I’m hoping we really do get the rain they are predicting for Saturday. This weekend is Victoria Day weekend, so it’s a good bet that we will get some rain. LOL! It always seems to rain on that weekend!
One of our gardens, photo taken from the middle. These show where the tomatoes, cabbage, huckleberries, peas, onions, and garlic are planted.
