Facebook group for St. Thomas garden.
Hubby came across a video talking about the fight going on in St. Thomas, Ontario over a community garden. It seems the trouble is mainly being caused by 1 neighbor that doesn’t want the garden on her street.
To make matters worse the town board is fighting them to, but only because of the complaint. The zoning for the lot is R3 and community gardens aren’t on the “OK” list of uses. Funny enough from the info I saw on the facebook page, you could have a church or daycare there but not a GARDEN!?! Good grief…
It makes me so upset and sad when people try and stop others from growing FOOD! The urban agriculture movement has been growing in the last few year. Something that I’m so happy to see!
