Here’s a cute set of free sea life playdough number mats, perfect for counting up to 10! We’ve been having so much fun using these mats to practice my preschooler’s number skills.

Using playdough mats to teach numbers also helps to enforce many other learning skills but it feels like fun play to your kids!

How To Make The Sea Life Number Playdough Mats

Materials Needed:

These number mats are so easy to make! Simply print them out and place them into a laminating pouch.

Then run them through your laminator and they are ready to use.

If you don’t have a laminator you could just slide the sheet into a page protector. It works but it’s not as strong as laminating so the pages won’t last as long.

Using The Ocean Number Playdough Mats

Have your child count the number of sea animals on each card out loud.

Then they can place a ball of playdough into each empty square on the counting grid to make the number they just said out loud.

Finally, they can roll a playdough snake to form the number.

Rolling the playdough really helps to develop fine motor skills that help with writing!

As your child gets better at making the numbers you can also have them trace over the number with his finger or use a dry erase marker.

As an alternative to using playdough, you can use math counters, foam stickers (unpeeled), pompoms, or buttons.

These cute sea life number mats are perfect for summer fun and fit in well with beach and ocean-themed unit studies too.
