Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage sliced half inch wide
  • 2 large onions diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large head cabbage cored and sliced (about a 4 pound cabbage)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil

Instructions

  • Place the vegetable oil into the Dutch oven, add the sausage, and cook over medium-high heat until cooked through.
  • Add the onion and cook, stirring until the onion caramelizes.
  • Next, add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  • Then stir in the cabbage and cook for another 10 minutes stiring often.
  • Add the salt, pepper, thyme, and paprika, stir, and reduce the heat to medium. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
