Maple mashed sweet potatoes are one of those cozy, comforting side dishes that just make a meal feel extra special. Sweet potatoes cooked until tender, mashed with butter, milk, and a touch of maple syrup. Simple, creamy, and delicious every time.
I love sweet potatoes, when they come in season in the fall I try to keep them as part of our meals through the fall and winter. They are creamy, sweet, and a great alternative to potatoes. Plus, this simple recipe is so easy to make with only 4 ingredients.
They’re perfect with weeknight dinners, holiday meals, or anytime you want a warm and easy side dish. The natural sweetness of the potatoes and maple syrup makes this one a favorite with kids, too.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds sweet potatoes (about 6 medium), peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup salted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup maple syrup, or to taste
How To Make Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Peel and quarter the sweet potatoes, place them into a large pot, and fill with cold water until they are covered.
Bring them to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-high and boil gently for 10 to 15 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
Then drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot, and mash until they are the texture you like.
Next, add the butter, milk, and maple syrup and stir until smooth.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. To reheat, warm slowly on the stovetop over medium heat, adding a splash of milk or a little butter if they thicken.
Or you can reheat individual servings in the microwave, heat at 30-second intervals, stirring between each until they are heated through.
