Canning Apples & Enjoying Beautiful Fall Weather

It’s been a beautiful week of warm weather here, at least until the end of the week!  I don’t think I can remember a November where the weather was so warm.  I’m still keeping busy canning and dehydrating along with trying to finish up outside projects.

I’ve been working on the apples we picked last week.  I still have a huge pile to can!  I’ve been making applesauce, apple butter, and apple jelly.

So far we have done 7 quarts of applesauce, 28 pints of apple jelly and 11 pints of apple butter.  I’ll be posting recipes very soon!

Isn’t this apple cute?  Our daughter found it in the apple bag, it looks just like a heart!

Cardboard Play House

We are still working on expanding our gardens with the woodchip mulch.  Hubby brought home lots of cardboard to put down on the ground first.

Of course, he wasn’t using them that day, so the kid ’s got a hold of them and built a town!  It kept them busy all afternoon.

Unfortunately later in the day, we had to take it apart for the gardens.  They used the leftover cardboard to build one large house.  Tomorrow it will be added to the garden too.

This week I hope to finish canning the apples.  I’m planning to make a little more applesauce, but mostly apple butter and apple jelly.  I still have a lot of pears to work on as well so I’m thinking I will can some in syrup and then make some pear butter to.  Yum!
