The Best Burger Sauce

This is the best burger sauce, it’s creamy, tangy, and full of flavor. Perfect for spreading on burgers, dipping fries, or drizzling over salads. The best part? It comes together in just minutes with simple pantry ingredients.
The Big Mac burger was always my favorite burger, but we don’t eat fast food very much anymore. So, of course, I had to try making a copycat sauce recipe.
After testing lots of combinations, this is the closest that I came up with, and it tastes so good!
Ingredient Notes
Make sure to check the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
- Miracle Whip: This whipped dressing makes the cream base of the sauce. Miracle Whip adds a tangier, slightly sweet flavor, but you can also use mayonnaise. Mayo will give it a richer, milder taste. Both work, use the one you prefer.
- Ketchup: Adds a sweetness, tang, and that classic burger sauce color.
- Mustard: Helps to balance the sweetness with its sharp flavor. Yellow mustard is what I use most often, but Dijon can be used for more of a spicy kick.
- Relish: The secret to that classic flavor, sweet pickle relish blends right into the sauce for a tangy, sweet crunch. If you prefer less sweetness, dill pickle relish works well, too. I often use my homemade sweet pickle relish in this sauce.
- Garlic Powder: Adds depth and a savory flavor without overpowering the sauce.
- Paprika: Adds a mild smokiness and color to the sauce.
- Salt & Pepper: A must for all sauces, salt and pepper enhance the other flavors.
How To Make Homemade Burger Sauce
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the Miracle Whip dressing, ketchup, mustard, relish, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and paprika.
Stir well to combine all the ingredients until you have a smooth sauce.
Storage Tips
- Refrigerator: Store your burger sauce in a sealed jar or airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. Stir before each use to remix any ingredients that have settled.
- Make Ahead: The flavors of this sauce get even better after a few hours in the fridge. So this is a great sauce to prep the night before a BBQ, party, or meal.
Ways To Use Burger Sauce:
- Burgers & Sandwiches: Spread it on homemade burgers, sliders, chicken sandwiches, or wraps.
- Dipping Sauce: Use it as a dipping sauce for fries, potato wedges, onion rings, or chicken strips.
- Salads & Pasta: Drizzle the sauce over your lettuce salad or use it as the dressing in Big Mac Pasta Salad.
- Grilled Meats: Spoon a little over grilled chicken, steak, or pork for a creamy topping.
- Snack Boards: Add it as a dip on charcuterie or snack boards with veggies and chips.
