December Decorating & Fun Wrap Up

Despite our family being hit with the sickies for the first half of December, we were still able to have a lot of Christmas fun.  It’s not over yet, no I like to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas!  So Christmas isn’t officially over for us until next week.

Christmas Tree

I love doing this and find it helps to bring more peace to the season.

ceramic nativity set

We started off by decorating of course.  Our first decorations to go up is always the nativity.  This year it’s in our kitchen window, out of reach of dd1.  LOL.

Christmas Village Set

Also in the kitchen is my little winter village.  It fit perfectly on the corner shelf.

Christmas Tree

We put up our artificial tree in the living room.  We’ve had this tree since our oldest was a baby.  I call it our Charlie Brown tree because it’s pretty thin but we love it for all the memories it holds.
I loved watching the kids decorating it.  It was so cute since dd1 is just old enough to love all the colorful decorations and help too!

Her favourite part was taking the wooden ornaments and pinecones on and off the tree over and over.

Christmas Lights

The live tree we have in the sun porch.   The kids picked out a Frazier Fur this year, one of my favourite types.  We put up the lights and let the kids do the rest of the decorating.

This year we put up the pine garland and lights around the top of the porch walls.  I did this a few years ago and we’ll have to keep doing it because we love how it looks.

In the kitchen, we’ve been baking gingerbread men, Scottish shortbread cookies, fudge, and our favourite peanut butter cookies but with red and green sugar on top.

I hope that you have all had a wonderful Christmas season and a blessed start to the new year!

While I don’t really “do” New Years resolutions we have been busy talking about our homestead plans for this coming year.  I”m looking forward to sharing them with you all soon!
