This past week or so has been both been crazy busy and restful at the same time.  I’m late getting some of our Christmas photos up because we’ve been ENJOYING just resting and doing Christmas activities.  I decided again that we would do the 12 days of Christmas this year, so really we are celebrating until Jan. 6th.  I was to tired this year to plan a bunch of activities to do, so we have been just enjoying watching a lot of Christmas movies, reading some great books and of course a lot of baking!

The more stressful parts came with all the unexpected shopping we had to do.  One of  these was the 23rd we decided to wrap gifts up in the afternoon so we could relax the next day.  That’s when we discovered we didn’t have all the needed batteries.  Oops!  So we headed out to town that evening and hubby ran into Walmart to pick up the batteries and a few other little things we would need.  Yikes was it crazy busy! LOL  We treated the kids to a supper out and decided on subs again.  Then enjoyed looking at the lights as we drove around a bit.

This year we had our big Christmas supper on Christmas Eve, so that our dear friend could come.  We had planned to get together Christmas day, but they were calling for a storm on Christmas day.  So we had a lovely visit on the 24th.  The next day it was raining and the winds were very strong.  Areas further north had some power outages but we were ok.  Thankfully the kids slept in a little bit! lol  When we heard them starting to wake, hubby and I got up to get the wood stoves going to warm up the downstairs.  We put the Christmas lights on and some soft music in the background.  Just have to love the fake wood fireplace they play on TV each year. LOL!IMG_4491 Baby girl juts loved her first Christmas!  She enjoyed trying to pull goodies out of her stocking.  She also received her first little doll and the bouncer she’s sitting in.  Although we gave her the bouncer a few days early.  She’s been teething and needed something “new” to distract her a little.

IMG_4516IMG_4561  Ds has been asking for a train set for a few Christmas seasons now.  This year we thought he was really ready for one.  Boy was he surprised!  He’s been playing with it nonstop as well.

IMG_4519Dd10 and dd9 had both been asking for cameras for a long time and had used mine a lot this past summer.  So we thought they were ready for their own to.  They just love them and have been taking soooo many photos and videos.  They can’t wait to take them on our nature hikes to take photos for their nature journals.

IMG_4535Our oldest dd has been asking for a mp3 player and was thrilled to receive one this year.   It’s been loaded up with music and soon audio books to!  That will free up the computers a bit at school time to.  heehee IMG_4548Dd7 received a new doll and just loves her little ballerina! Poor dolly had an accident Christmas morning.  Dd was painting with a paint by numbers kit and had BLACK paint on her hands when she picked up her doll.  Yup black streaks all over the face and hair of the doll.  The paint came out of the doll hair easily but the face?  Yikes!  I don’t know what they are making kids paint out of these days but it sure wasn’t washable.   We ended up using a little acetone on a qtip and that cleaned it right off.  Lucky!

Despite the weather outside being yucky we had a lovely day just resting.  Since we had our big supper the day before we enjoyed leftovers for supper.  It was kind of nice and we might make that a new tradition!  Normally we are juggling hyper kids, gifts and trying to cook and bake a large meal on the same day.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday season and wish you a Happy New Year!
