There’s something special about a warm batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies, and these chocolate chip walnut cookies take it up a notch. They’re soft in the center, golden around the edges, and loaded with rich chocolate chips and crunchy walnuts in every bite.
This cookie recipe is a variation of my family’s old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies. They are perfect on their own as an easy dessert or snack, but also make a wonderful base recipe to add yummy additions to.
When we decided to add some walnut pieces to our chocolate chip cookies one year, they were a real favorite! Now we enjoy making them through the fall and winter, and they are a must-have on our Christmas cookie trays.
They bake up into a nice thick cookie loaded with gooey chocolate chips and crunchy walnuts. Whether you’re baking for your family, sharing at a get-together, or just craving a sweet treat, this easy cookie recipe is one you’ll come back to again and again.

How To Make Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies

Drop by the tablespoon onto your prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
Storage And Freezing Tips
Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. To keep the cookies nice and soft, add a slice of bread to the container.
Freezing the Dough: Scoop the cookie dough balls onto a baking sheet and freeze until firm. Then transfer to a freezer bag or freezer-safe container with layers of parchment paper between them. When ready to use, bake from frozen, just add one to two minutes to the bake time.
Freezing Baked Cookies: Let your baked cookies cool completely, then freeze in layers separated by parchment paper for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
