This strawberry top syrup is an easy way to turn something you’d normally throw away into something that tastes amazing. Instead of tossing the tops and leaves, you can turn them into a sweet, fruity syrup with just a few simple ingredients.
It’s a great recipe to make when you’re already prepping strawberries for jam or desserts. Simple, budget-friendly, and a great way to make the most of what you have.
Ingredients
- 2 cups strawberry tops
- 3 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
How To Make Strawberry Top Syrup
Start by adding the strawberry tops, water, and sugar to a medium saucepan.
Place the pot over medium heat and bring everything to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. This helps pull all the flavor from the strawberry tops.
After simmering, remove the pot from the heat and strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer to remove the tops and leaves.
Pour the liquid back into the pot and return it to the stove. Let it simmer for another 15 minutes or until it thickens to a syrup-like consistency.
Remove from the heat and let it cool until it’s safe to handle. Pour into jars or bottles and store in the refrigerator.
